    Hi

Quick question, I have just bought the sony vaio a317s and it is fantastic except the top volume for the speakers is really annoyingly low! Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to increase it. Can I add addional speakers, for instance I also have one of the Creative 5.1 sets?

    many thanks for any advice.

    Zac

You can add external speakers of course. On my A190 there is a setting in BIOS to raise the audio level. Have you tried raising this to the maximum level?

    Hi Steve

Yes I tried plugging in external speakers using the laptop head phone socket but then of course the sony speakers are not being used which is a shame.

Thanks for your suggestion Re going into the bios. I have just tried that, but strangely whether I have the bios volume set to 1 or to the top level of 8 the volume remains the same. Did it change the actual volume level for you when you tried it?

Not to any major extent. But I've never heard a decent laptop speaker anyway.

i have the exact same problem with my new fe. have u guys found a solution? i tried adjusting the volume at the bios but that didn't help much. even when connected to speakers or headphones the sound is "low" even at max setting. my old dell was much lowder, i would never need to slide the volume bar pass mid point. i cant believe sony would do this! am i overlooking something? thank for your help!

The volume setting in the bios only controls the volume of the sound that plays during the Vaio animation logo as the computer boots up. Has no effect on the sound otherwise.

Unfortunately I have yet to find anything that will increase the volume. If you can add the external amplified speakers, that might be the only option. The external soundcard idea might work too, but I don't think they have any effect on the internal speakers..I might be wrong.
