    sony vaio pcg k415b not detecting harddrive

    took the 40 gig out and put a 120gig in but shows up in bios no harddrive detected and its now the same when i put the 40gig back in ive noticed its not spinning too .so can someone plz help me out

    was the 40 gig working before you took it out ?
    is the 120 gig new or used ?

    Can you get into the BIOS by chance to see what it says? And try updating your BIOS. Some of the older notebooks (especially Sony) have issues upgrading to larger HDD's and need a BIOS update to fix the issue. Also what are the specs on the new drive vs the old one. Are they UDMA or UATA 100 or 166?
