    hello,

i have a sony vaio laptop and what's happening is it will shut down if I leave it unattented for about 10 minutes. This only happens at regular room temperature but doesn't happen when I have the air conditioning on it or a fan blowing on it. In control panel it's set to never shut off so I'm curious what the problem could be. Cooling fan? or something else?

Is there a way I could check it out on the start menu to test if hardware is working or something without having to take it in to a repair shop?

Help me out if you can

Sounds like it could be overheating. I'd start with a can of compressed air, try cleaning it out. If it's under warranty, you might want to call support as well, if the fan isn't working properly. Take a look in the software forum too, there should be a few applications that can help you monitor this as well. Start with Centrino Hardware Control.
