Hi everyone,
1st time here.
After 5 back and forth emails with sony support I have not recieved any useful info.
I have 2 questions:
1. My hdd is busted and I want to repleace it with ssd. Will the laptop model support it? The sonny support said it will not support ssd but didnt provide with any explanations (i asked 3 times).
2. I didnt recieve any discs with the laptop purchase. How can I know my original windows 8 key that came with the laptop purchase?
Thanks
-
1. Replacing the HDD with a 2.5" SSD is not a problem. What might give you a few headaches is the UEFI BIOS which wants the drive to be partitioned in a particular manner. I don't have a laptop with UEFI BIOS, so I cannot advise you in this matter. Perhaps someone will be kind enough to help out.
2. If the HDD is toast very little can be done to recover your key. I think if you can lay your hands on an OEM copy of Windows suitable for Sony products, it won't even ask you for a key. Otherwise you'll have to install Windows and then get it activated by calling Microsoft and telling them your Windows key that is on the sticker on the bottom. Worst case, you buy a fresh license. -
Thank you for the reply my friend.
