hey guys, so yesterday i burnt windows 7 image to a usb drive, replaced my 500gb hdd with a 128gb ssd, and installed windows 7 on it. i installed all the drivers on sony's website for the sony vaio svt13116fxs, and completed all the windows updates. However, there is one problem. my sound volume is horrbily low. I took out my ssd and put back in the hdd, and my sound volume on that is about twice as loud on it than my ssd. I really dont know whats the problem.

on my ssd, i went into device manager and under the sound drivers it saaid "high definition audio device (hdmi)" and "realktek high definition audio". on my hdd it says "intel(r) display audio" andd "realtek high deifinition audio". i've tried looking everywhere to download intel r display udio becus that might be the problem but i cant find it.

I've been trying to fix this forever, been going for 7 hours now. someplease help..thanks

Check the drivers Sony installed in the HDD and download them from Sony support page, that should fix it. If there's only one version of them check this thread and try the drivers recommended there instead, they might help.

Or maybe the solution to your problems is simply going to Realtek Definitions and increase the volume there manually? In the same thread there are instructions for that as well.

It isn't about your W7 installation or SSD, that's for sure, only drivers and \ or sound properties.

    Sony eSupport - SVT13116FXS - Support

Under "sound" is the driver i dl'd. It's the same as in the hdd. So i really dont know whats wrong.

Edit: the sony vaio t series have xloud speaker technology which makes the speakers extra loud. on this ssd, the speakers r pitiful, idk what happened

That Vaio S xLoud stuff is probably just marketing fluff, the speakers are about average they say, I'm getting mine in a few hours so I'll check personally.

Anyway, if the laptop sounds good with the HDD drivers and you can't find the exact configuration to make it work right with your SSD you can try to use some partition mirroring tool to pass that W7 partition right to the SSD. Something like EASEUS Partition Manager, Clonezilla, Macrium Reflect, Acronis True Image, Norton Ghost, etc etc.

Just remember to shrink the HDD partition so it fits the SSD, else you won't be able to clone it.

I'm getting ready to replace the 500gb drive in my vaio t13 with a 128gb drive this week. Were you able to just physically replace the drive and install windows on it, or did you have to do any weird/custom configuration stuff to get it to work?

I did a clean format on my S15 and the volume is really quiet too. I didn't check the volume levels before, so I can't say if I'm in the same boat.
