    can anyone help?
Had this sony laptop for a few weeks now but it has freezed every time we have started it up. it will start up but it takes about 10 attempts (15 mins). 1) The vaio screen appears 2) goes to loading bar then freezes. On restart it offers the repair option but continues to freeze.

Do I need to return it or can this be sorted?

Have you cleaned it up yet - gotten rid of all the junk bloatware for a start? Recently, I bought an eMachines desktop and enjoyed the exact same symtoms until it was cleaned up. Actually, Vista ran ok but was slow after the clean up; I eventually Dbanned the drive erasing Vista, then installed XP and Ubuntu and no longer have any issues.

In addition, go to safe mode with command prompt, type chkdsk /f

Select yes, and let is boot itself to chkdsk procedure

How often does this happen? Is it only on cold boot? From stand by? Hibernation?
