Hi guys
I'm trying to find a disassembly manual for a Sony Vaio VGN-CR series notebook. The reason being is that I need to access the part where the LCD cable harness connects to the motherboard. I am currently having display issues and I need to check and/or replace the LCD cable.
My screen is giving me weird, distorted colors with lines across the screen. It's either going to be a faulty cable or LCD screen. I have it hooked up to an external monitor and the display is great. That eliminates the graphics card/motherboard. The lines and colors will move up and down the screen randomly.
Can anyone help me with disassembling the notebook to access the lcd to the motherboard? Thanks in advance
TOM

hello i experience the same problem with my girlfriend's vgn cr. i managed to disassemble it realy easy. to acces the lcd data cable you have to:
- remove the bottom cover that hides the ram
- then remove the screws that hold the keyboard, i can't remember the amount of them
- now, flip the computer, remove the keyboard, be carefull, u have to remove it's cable too
- remove the screws that hold the top panel, there are 4 of ythem under the keyboard and 3 or 4 of them on the bottom side, somewhere in front
- remove the panel and here you are, on the left top side, somewhere not far from the hinge, you'll see the cable connecting to the mainboard.
my cable has some burn, probably due to high teperature of the core cooler. i dont know why the sony engineers placed it near the radiator....i think it's not the best solution...
anyway, i have to replace it and can't find one in my country...
