am i missing something here? besides the 13inch screen size vs the 14 inch screen size... the ea series is nearly half the price.

the only thing i can see it missing is the SSD.. but is that worth 1k? :S

Hate to say it but you really need to do some research before posting a question like this.

The Z is an ultra-portable, lightweight and powerful laptop (both processor & video card specs). It's made for business or power users.

EA is your consumer line. No way near as thin, light or powerful as the Z.

E series has a slightly more powerful gpu though. Which does seem kinda odd doesn't it?

Infact, e series is much better value in terms of performance (when comparing against the lowest spec z). The base z configuration matches the top e series configuration in terms of cpu, RAM and hdd and is twice the price. And e series has slightly better gpu. Of course what you're paying for is the superior build quality and several extra features and there are options to add core i7's into the z series and ssd raid which would put up price even further (but allow much better performance). But if you're limited by price then e series is the way to go.

EDIT: I'm sorry I didn't read your first post thoroughly enough. The EA (14") has a weaker gpu than EB (15.5") and EC (17.3"). So in that case the z series definately has better gpu.

Lower resolution, no HDMI, no TPM, plastic instead of metal, much heavier, no wwan, shorter battery life, no second graphics card to switch to to conserve power...

If you can afford Z and need/want all the extra features and improved build quality go with that but if not E series is still a fine laptop for the price it seems.
