I want to buy a SZ650N/C and I went to www.sonystyle.com to check the price. Guess what? There's no SZ650 anymore but just 640, 680, 670, and 691. I did a search for "SZ650N/C" and on the result page, the price highlighted in red drops from $2,049.99 to $1,476.95 and the product was marked as "outlet product" http://forum.notebookreview.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=12382&stc=1&d=1195179697
Why is there a massive price drop, as well as sonystyle does not sell it anymore? Is there any error for SZ650? Does anyone know what happened to the SZ650? I'm so confused now cause I really like that one.

It's possible that they are getting ready to release an update to the SZ line. You can get the SZ650 much cheaper than what Sony originally sold it for at techonweb.com or ecomelectronics.com.

I guess they also got rid of the 660 too, maybe those were their best sellers and as Ken Wind said they might be releasing a SZ update so their trying to get rid of their excessive inventory.

The outlet model you saw is a used and refurbished unit that's why it's cheaper.

Is it wise to buy a SZ650 these days? How can I tell that a Sony SZ is used or refurbished cause I want to buy a new one?

The websites I listed sell new ones. They both sell the SZ650 model for around $1700. I just checked techonweb, and they are out of that model now.

Hi Ken Wind, thanks for your advice, but i'm not in the US. I'm in Vietnam so I have to check it manually :)
