call me retarded but cant find the driver that fixes that switch???
also how can you turn on camera without being in a messngr chat?think these are the last two probs i have with my vista ultimate upgrade. can someone be so kind as to point me in the right direction

You need to install a Sony Util to get the switch to work.
Download the Sony Utils pack from the thread linked in my sig and install in the order listed. I created that thread when I owned a SZ2 and tested on Vista Ultimate, so it should work for you.
You'll also find the driver for the webcam, as requested in your other thread.
Your camera is a VGP-VCC2
The webcam can be activated if you install the VAIO Camera Capture util. The only other way I know is Messenger, which you already know about. There doesn't seem a way to turn in on in My Computer, as in XP, and it's not recognised in Control Panel either. -

There is no driver for the switch. To fix it you must have Vaio Power Management Viewer installed.
With the camera, to use the camera without needing to turn it on using messenger, install Vaio Camera capture utility and Vaio Camera Utility. Install Camera capture utility first then follow by the Camera utility.
