ok, i did a lot of reading on this and there seems to be many conflicting facts about the SZ's video card. on alot of sites, i read that the SZ's video card only has 64 mb dedicated, and 64 mb turbocache. others say its 128mb dedicated.
do different versions have different video cards? on Sony's site, they list the SZ2xx with turbocache, but the sz3xx doesnt list turbo cache. can i assume its 128 dedicated? what about the sz1xx series? people on this forum will say its 128mb dedicated, but on Sony's site, it says the sz1xx uses turbocache also. can someone set me straight please?

I wondered about this myself. I went to a CompUSA and on a SZ330 and did a start/run/dxdiag and on the display tab it says 128 MB, although I don't remember it saying anything about dedicated. Well on my 64 MB shared memory Sony T250 it says 64 MB so actually it doesn't mean anything. THe only reason I feel it is only 64 MB of dedicated memory in the SZ is looking at the 3Dmark results compared to other 128 MB cards, most of which look like they are screaming compared to the Geforce 7400. This is why I am sitting on my cash for now. THe first company that can get me a 3DMark comparable to other 128 MB dedicated chips in a 13" laptop will have my attention as long as the weight and thickness are also appealing. Must give Sony my compliments on a fine looking laptop, but I want something closer to true 128 MB dedicated. Just my opinion but I feel the Geforce turbocache 7400 is good...for a souped up 64 MB GPU. If anyone has data with a link that indicated the 7400 is comparable to other 128 MB chips I would be very interested; I could be wrong and would welcome such info as long as it it not just compared to the slowest 128 MB GPU laptop in the world and all other laptops are ignored.
Anyway I know a true 128 MB dedicated GPU may be hard to come by in a 13" these days, so I may be compelled wait, or not buy at all and keep what I have.
Guess it's unfair to compare the 7400 to an ATI x1600 though, but it's the kind of performance I would be looking for in a 128 MB chip.
Another interesting point is that Dell advertises 256 MB in the 7400 in the M1210. You may want to compare it's performance with the Sony SZ but I don't see a big increase. It may be more advertizing hype; dunno. -
It is 128MB Dedicated. I know this because its been 5 months since I have my SZ and the amount of research I did on it and know about it is quiet a lot

open run
type in dxdiag
check your ram. but Im not sure if it's just physical ram or with turbocache -

Does any company besides Sony have a dedicated card in a 13" that equals or surpasses the SZ besides the Asus W7J? As far as I know none else comes to mind. The weight and dimensions of the SZ are hard to match by other companies also. What Aerosense says is cool; just wish he had more than his word to back up his statement.

There is a lot of info out there if you google it up. Here is something:

Seems nVidia goes out of their way to avoid posting serious specs and others as a result continue to have conflicting info. -
Areeros is right, its been talked to death about 5 months ago. Its 128mb for Sony sz. And up to 128mb for the intel.

Talked to death where? And how do you personally know it is 128 MB dedicated and not "supported" or "Turbocached"?
sz = 128 mb dedicated?
