Just wondering what the heat temp is on a 2.1 on the sz notebook. I have the 1.8Ghz and under full load the temp is around 63c, what is it on the 2.1?
I was thinking about getting the intel chip to upgrade my unit. Since the dual core 2 arent THAT much of a jump, going to the 2.1 when prices come down, might be a good idea.
It SHOULD give me a speed boost of around 25%? with the extra 300mhz jump? Might be worth $400. eh... hard one. its mostly for gaming.

Since both will be worth around 400, which is better?
T2600 Core Duo or T7200 Core 2 Duo. -
Assuming I'm using an application that mainly stresses the CPU, temps are roughly the same. However if I use a game, which stresses both CPU & GPU then the temps go a little higher.

Tough one, the T2600 is a little faster then the T7200 MHz wise. (2.16 GHz vs 2.0 GHz) But actual performance, if comparing the same speed CPU, the T7x00 (Merom) series is a little faster. For the T7x00 series, they improved on the weak points of the T2x00 series so even if its a little slower MHz wise, I think the T7200 is still better. -
That is true, but I was thinking on what would work in this computer. I highly doubt (but wishing) that Sony will be kind and update the bios to take meron. So I would be stuck at getting the fastest chip Sony would normally stick in this machine.

I'm a little confused: I though the T2600 was 2.16Ghz. Mine is a T2600 and its reported to run at 2.16. -

Besides the main "boost" of merom comes in a 64bit os. Today you won't see much gain so I'd rather go for a fast, cheap and fully supported T2600 or even T2700. -
What I said is in a MHz comparison, the T2600 has a higher MHz then T7200. But in actual usage they may give the same performance or the T7200 probably still be a tad better.
sz and the dual core 2.1-heat temp?
