first I was just wondering if anyone got theirs with any bad pixels and what sony's replacement policy is on the display. On mine i have one bad pixel close to the middle of the screen. It's not really that big of a deal since its so small but would sony replace the entire display just for one bad pixel? I bought the warranty too so I'm not too worried about it right now but just curious what other people's experiences were.
also, the spacebar issue, I've read people were putting tape on the underside of the key. Do these keys just pull right out? I've been bending mine a little trying to get it out but I'm afraid to apply too much force for fear of breaking it. Is there any correct method to pulling these out right?

Considering that the SZ [even the 'non-Premium' models] is a premium notebook at a premium price I would keep returning it until I got one that was perfect.
Achieving zero dead pixels is not rocket science, it just cuts down on the yield of screens from any given FAB thus increasing costs which then requires just a bit of QC'ing from the assembler [Sony] in order to make sure no computers go out with any bad pixels; simple, just costs a bit more.
Again, at the price of these computers, particularly the Premium models, I would demand zero dead pixels.
[2] Just take a butter knife out, slip it under the key [the side that points toward you] and gently "pry" the key up and away from you at a 45-degree angle with light, consistent pressure. Don't use the aluminum palm rest as your lever point though as you might accidently scar it with the knife. Apply the upward pressure to the key by itself.
There are three groups of snap-locks for the spacebar key; left, right, and center. I have found that the best, safest way to pry the key up is to pop each of the three locks individually working from left to right. This seems to put less total pressure on any given part of the key
Be aware that some or all of the white plastic pop-locks will come completely free but they are very easy to put back in place. Keep in mind that the pop-lock tabs are wedge shaped on the ends and they go back on with the long edge of the wedge touching the keyboard tray. Also be careful not to bend the metal spring bar guide channels on the keyboard tray, as they are quite flimsy and bend easily. -
hey thanks for the tips I got the spacebar off no problem.
as for the bad pixel I'm not realy gonna worry about it right now since I can only see it against a black screen and even then I have to look for it. Besides who knows how long it will take them to fix it and since its still relatively new I don't really want to be without for any amount of time.
