I have to use a corporate install of Windows XP on my sony sz, and so far everything has been going pretty well.

I tried to autorun the 1st Sony SZ DVD Restore CD (to install some of the extra drivers and apps), but it gives me an error window (entitled "art"), with the error message "Language could not be determined", and then quits.

Anyone have an idea how to get around it? I checked the languages control panel, but it all seems normal.

    Thanks in advance :)

    Hmm... Corporate Windows?

Anyways, I'm assuming your restore CDs are english? If so, when you checked your regional language settings, did you make sure the "Language for non-unicode programs" is set to english? That setting is found under the Advanced Tab.

Sorry, by "Corporate Windows", I meant a massively modified, site licensed, copy of Windows XP SP2 having no Sony customizations. Most of the drivers are installed correctly. I'm just trying to install the Sony applications.

The CDs are english, and the "Language for non-unicode programs" is English (US).

Googling the error message didn't work :)

    Thanks

I'm addtionally having this issue. We have our own staff install of XP Pro.

I contacted Sony and essentially what they said was that they don't support other XP installs except for theirs.

So basically, you're going to have to have the drivers built in with your staff or corporate install.

You have to install the Sony Shared Library component on to the machine before the restore DVDs will work. You can do this manually by browsing the DVD, or by downloading it from the Sony website.
