    The video version I use that was obtained from www.laptopvideo2go.com is 84.56 32-bit from EVGA. From the quick research I did before using it, its one of the versions that has everything working fine... ie PowerMizer function.

    Some versions the PowerMizer feature is broken and it was confirmed that 84.56 has it working, so I tried it and haven't changed since.... I haven't run into any reasons to change to another version.

    The 85.98 works fine:
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/index.php?drivers&series=85&os=1&type=1&dir=1

    But you have to install the driver manually like it is shown here:
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=33

    The driver you need depends on the graphic chip and the manufacturer id.
    I tried to install an original nvidia mobile forceware, but I the only thing saw was a BSOD.
    The 85.-Series works pretty well if you install them in the way shown in the link above.

    Improvements are mostly bugfixes (hopefully this dimming thang) and compatibility with games.

    Usually Sony wants us to use their drivers.
    But the driver coming with the laptop (also available on Sony's site) is from March.
    This 85.98 is from July.

    Sony, like lots of companies don't actualize their drivers very often, so we have to use drivers from other companies.

    And laptovideo2go seems to be the best place to check drivers for mobile devices.

    @tinyrk

    when I tried to install driver version 85.98, upon restarting, my computer crashes. It boots into windows then gives me a bluescreen, beeps and restarts in that pattern over and over. The screen was too quick to be read so I had to go into safe mode and went back to a system restore. Any thoughts on what the heck is wrong with my comp? thanks in advance
