seems like every other day or 2 it locks up mouse freeze and I'm forced to power down, no other choice.

Even viewer does not show anything to be the cause I just see a 6008 event id

now I just blew out the side vents and was surprised to see a cloud come out,

it seems to not have such hot air coming out now after I restarted it.

I will report back in a few days anyone with feed is welcome to tell me your

    experience.

If you said you blew air through the vents and got dust then yes, that might be overheating.

Also, NVidia or X3100? The latter is much cooler.

But definitely clean your laptop thoroughly - its may be a good idea to remove the keyboard and the bottom flaps..

Remove the bottom panel and clean out the fan and heat sink. You can completely clean the heatsink and most of the fan without taking apart much of anything. A great idea on a laptop.

I actually took mine off and put in new thermal grease as well, which made my fans quieter.

8400GS video it's a intel Duo 2.2ghz, I took the bottom off and used can air, I was surprised to find more dust, fine dust. I will know in a couple days, if this was the issue.

OK, with using the 8400 you are using a hotter card (compared to the intel)

But if you found plenty of dust that should be reducing your problem is not removing it.

Hmm... try using the Intel X3100 (i.e. Stamina) if it still does it either there is something that crashes it - try to establish a pattern, or try to reinstall the OS...

If it doesn't do it, then the NVidia card might be at fault...

I hope no "strange tweaks" on your part? Because they generally break stuff...

    "PowerBoost" what's that?

And why did you disable indexing?

In any way, I doubt either of those would cause any problems.

    Next step:
Any pattern to the freezes? Any regularity?

And have you tried running in stamina?

    Yes.

The SZ is constructed as light as possible - its not per se a performance laptop - its a high end portable laptop.

I cleaned the heck out of the fan and the vents it appears to be much cooler,
but I get 2-5 days of use before it freezes again. Now I do put it to sleep instead of a complete reboot. I'm going to do a full restart daily for the next 10 days. if that fails I will try stamia mode for 10 days

Download the program called "Bluscreen View".
It will help you with error codes and may give you a better idea of what you are dealing with.

Just googled it quickly - ID 6008 is an unexpected shutdown which is caused by the user himself by "hard reseting" the laptop - so its not getting us anywhere.

My suggestion would really be to try Stamina and see if it persists.

I've searched up many error codes and never have anything tell me what this program could.

I forgot about this thread but shortly after my seagate hybrid drive failed all together I suspect this was the real cause of this
