I noticed that when I set my cpu performance to max, it still shows 1ghz cpu speed while my laptop is sitting idle. When I use an app or something, it then jumps up to the 1.8ghz. I'm not too concerned or anything, just curious if this is normal for a max performance setting.

You need to adjust to performance under the vaio power management tab if you want it to remain at full speed.

I did. I set CPU Control to Performance for both 'Plugged in' and 'Running on batteries' in the VAIO Power Management Tab. Both NHC and RMclock shows the idle cpu at 1ghz. It of course goes up to 1.8ghz when something is actually running. So this isn't what 'Performance' is supposed to do?

Doh. Reboot did no good. CPU-Z shows 1ghz on idle even with performance setting. Seems to me like my adaptive and performance settings do the same thing. =/

You might try removing and reinstalling the VAIO power management utility.

There is no Power Management Option in VAIO BIOS Setting, So Intel SpeedStep Technology is always running.

Sure could be. After uninstalling, you should be able to reecover the app from the recovery dvd's. I'm not sure if you can recover just a single app from the recovery partition, but you can give that a shot too. Alternately, I think you can download it from the VAIO support site.

Let us know if that works.
