I have a sz340, 2 gigs of mem and 2ghz cpu....I have Vista Ultimate installed and it all seems to work fine. When I shut the lid, it seems to "sleep" fine but when I open it back up the lights come on, hard drive flashes for a bit but the screen neer comes back on....NOt sure what is wrong. Also it seems to take forever to bring everything up after I swipe my finger and it start loading in.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Which video setting are you using (Stamina vs. Speed)? Could it be the drivers? I know there have been discussions about how the nvidia drivers are not as stable as the intel drivers. I personally use the intel video and I am absolutely happy. I don't play games so I am not missing anything.
BTW, I have not had a problem with the standby at all. I am very happy with the speed at which it comes back up. I always hated that in XP.

Did you install all Soiny software or just the needed drivers? When I install the laptop2 go drivers Windows installs its own drivers with the updates.

If you have a lot of desktop icons and tray icons then when you start up your computer it will be slow. Did you put standby mode or hibernate mode? If you put standby mode all you need to do is press enter then it should start up and if you put hibernate mode then you need to press the power button once to start up again. If that doesn't work maybe call sony customer service because there might be a defective part.

I did install the newest drivers from laptopvideo2go and I stopped update from install its own (hid the update) I think that worked...
I dont have many tray icons and only 2 desktop icons. I am still playing around a bit. I need to look and see what is indexing...My desktop Vista index's its network drives, but its on all the time.

Still haveing sleep issue...More then half the time when the computer goes into sleep mode it will not come back out. If you push keys on the keyboard you here a beep from the speakers but nothing comes on the screen...Dont know what else to try. I have never had this problem on any laptop I have ever had...This was a clean install of Vista with the correct drivers..
Any ideas? -
Almost every computer I have done a fresh install on over the years has this problem, compaq, dell, sony, etc. at first. In my experience, it has always been the video drivers that are at fault.
I say get the latest video drivers from sony support and reinstall them. -
Well, I will give it a few more days then its going back. I have never had this much of a prblem with a laptop and I have worked on MANY different systems the past 10 years. I have tried sony drivers, laptop2go drivers and it does the same with both....I am going to reinstall vista tomorrow for the tird time and see if it fixes it....

Reinstalling wont fix, unless you're reinstalling with XP. I am about to revert back to XP on my laptop. Vista/Sleep is disgusting.
sz340 will not wake up from sleep
