I hav the sz480n laptop and i am trying to find a lighterweight travel power supply. Has anyone tried i with the VGP-AC19V21 this supply seems like it shouldwork, lists other SZ laptops, but not the specific model i have. I tried Sony support and sales, and no two answers are the same. Online chat says yes, phone technical supprt says no - the wattage is too hight on the supply (which makes no sense to me), and sales says it should work the data is just not up to date.

    Help

    DS

I'm sure it should work...... the SZ480 is just the configurable version of the SZ anyway, right? If it works with the SZ450, SZ460, SZ470 and SZ491, I can't see any reason it wouldn't work with the SZ480.

I'll have to check that out though. I had gotten the Kensinton AnywhereAdaptor (which works fine with the SZ), but this looks like it might be even more convenient.

My thoughts exactly. Especially if it works on the 491. It is on order so i"ll try it, but i would love it if somone could confirm it. I am having trouble with an iGo everywhere 130 and an S12 tip, it doesnt charge, so i am questioning everything ...

You may want to look into the Anywhere Adapter that ZADILLO mentioned. It weighs nearly half that of the vgp-ac19v2 power supply. I haven't tried it yet, but do plan on buying it in the near future. Everything I have read leads me to believe it will work on my SZ480N. You will also need to buy the SmartTip® pack for Sony Notebooks.

I haven't had any problems with it (there's a review posted here where you can see a photo of what it looks like). Generally it just means that if you plug it directly into the wall, it will hang down, rather than having enough cord to rest on the floor, which is actually probably a good thing.

Well, you may be able to change the short power cord with a different one (the factory power supply that comes with your computer). I'm not certain, but from what I see in pictures, it looks to have the same generic cord as the factory power supply that comes with your computer.

So i got the VGP-AC19V21 yesterday, and it seems to work just fine. I havent had much time to use it, but it charged my battery up from 75% and worked whicle i was using it. Fairly light, it is long and the cord from the brick to the laptop is short which makes it a bit awkward, it has to be on the desk or hanging down from the laptop. Other than that i am happy with it. It is the opposite of the kensington. Log cord to the wall and short oneto the laptop.

Isnt it great that two out of 3 calls to Sony said it would not work .....

I highly recommend the kensington adaptor. Its lighter and it lets you plug in on the airplane or in the car. I bought the wind up cable which makes life easier and saves you an once or 2. I have found no difference using the tip Kensington recommends with the one it comes with. Another great thing is that you can buy it for around $40.

the critical numbers are 19.5 volts and 4.7 amps as reccomended here you might try the kensignton since it gives you airline / car adaptor as well. I have an iGO so i wast looking for that option. THe iGO is very very heavy ...
