    Hi all,

I got my my hands on a p8700 cpu and replaced my stock T7250 that came with the laptop. Put it in, boot and nothing. What am I missing? They have the same socket but I was not entirely sure that they are compatible.

I wanted to upgrade to p8700 for its lower wattage and higher clock speed.

    Any input is much appreciated.

I tried a P9500 in an SZ7 and it did not boot. Your laptop has the same chipset. Others have also tried the P9500 in a Dell M1330 (same generation) which has the same chipset or a variant of it and they also found that it did not boot either.
There is a ebay seller who is selling a P8600 as tried and tested in a SZ7, but i do tend to they think they may have made an error there.

It appears not be compatible. You may want to think about upgrading to a T9500 or perhaps a T9300. My laptop has the T9300 and it runs very cool for my usage pattern. You could also upgrade to an extreme processor x9000 but as heat seems to be a concern, it might not be ideal for you.
