    Hi all,
I just got my SZ650NC. It's awesome in regards to performance. However, I have a problem with my windows media player. Initially it won't play mpeg4 or avi or any movie (only sound) files I have because it requires codec. Then I install divx and the WMP plays the movies. Now the problem is that when I maximize the movie on my external screen (1920 x 1200), it failed. The error message says: windows media player cannot play the video because there is a problem with your video card.

    Anyone has the same issue?

    Thanks in advance.

If im not mistaken go to www.sonystyle.com/ and go to the drivers page for the sz650nc. There is a section called updates and there is one in there for HD playback issues. Let me know if that works..

Thanks for the info. I tried to install it, but it says the update is for windows vista only. I have vista business on the notebook. I'm not sure what's going on. Incompatible updates?

Anyone installed this update on sz650 ?

I can't believe that I cannot even install the update from SONY websites for the HD issue update. I contacted SONY and they said it could be a hardware issue. I ended up exchanging it. However, still got the same issue :(

Anyone owns SZ650NC? Do you have the same issue? any resolution?

Did you ever figure this out? I have exactly the same problem. It plays in maximized mode on the internal LCD, but not on my 24" Dell External which I use as my primary monitor when docked. My Dell is running via DVI, incidentally.

I haven't tried it without the multi-monitor setup, not sure if that has any effect.

The workaround for me is to use Media Player classic, which works fine in full-screen mode (weird...)

The update seems to be for HD content (which from the context of your message , is not what you are dealing with)

If you are dealing with HD content, could there be some copy protection issues (HDCP and whatever other nonsense) -- which is WMP doesn't work and MPC does?

I doubt it...as I said, it works fine on the internal LCD "maximized"...and it used to work fine on my Dell Latitude w/the Dell 24" LCD. It's somehow related to the Nvidia graphics card/driver...

Have you tried any other media players such as Media Player Classic or VLC?

Yes, Classic works fine. But WMP has much better sound output.
