    I have a Sony VGN-BX563B

I installed NHC and is keeping track of the temperatures of CPU and harddrive. I would like your opinions on the optimal temperatures.

Before I applied undervoltage changes.. my CPU was idling at about 48 degrees and harddrive was at about 44 degrees.
After applying the change, temps for the CPU decreased about 3-5 degrees. Harddrive stayed about the same.

What I would like to know is this, is it ok for the fan to not come on and have the CPU and harddrive temp around 40-50 degress? Reason I ask this is that the fan is quite noisy. I would like to have a laptop that has it's fan running very minimal. Btw, I don't do any work that extensively overworks the CPU. Basically I'm surfing and using BT, etc. Occasionally watch some tv shows on the laptop.

I would also like to add that this laptop doesn't have a fan control setting but how I am able to somewhat control it is due to two bios firmwares I have released by Sony for this laptop. For some reason.. the newer firmware activates the fan at a lower threshold and stays on longer. The older firmware, the fan doesn't come on until at a higher temperature.

    thanks

those idling temps are perfectly normal and ok, if it gets above 60 for the idle then you may have something to worry about but you are far from that and have nothing to worry about

so it's ok for the fan to not turn on btw 40-50 degrees? That's for both the CPU and harddrive
