i have been using my sony viao without any problems so far, and all of a sudden, my webcam is not recognized! :(

i tried to get it through skype, and it wouldn't work, i then went to the webcam software, and it also wouldn't work.

the error message said something like webcam not recognized, and then it said something like reinstall or might be in use with other programs. but for SURE, there is no other program running it!

i don't know how to install a webcam that is already inbuilt!?

on a side, note, i also bought the really neat sony vaio mouse, the bluetooth one, and that too is not being recognized by my vaio :(

i am not sure if the mouse and webcam are related issues, or separte. if somebody has any idea of what i can try to do, i would REALLY REALLY REALLY appreciate it! thx, i need to connect to my family through webcam!!!!!!!!!

Try doing a format. That may be all that it needed.

Check the Sony website (for my model the FW285) there was a bluetooth driver update - may have same for your webcam. Try upating the drivers to see if will function again.

As for the mouse issue -- I have FW190E and a Microsoft Bluetooth Laser 5000 which works in XP but not in Vista.
As for the camera, touch the bezel behind the camera and if it is warm to the touch it probably works and it is a software issue.
Check if you have any software that might be using the camera without your knowledge (spyware, etc).
Finally try to unistall the camera and install the drivers anew or just do a system restore to a point where it still worked.
