how do you like it so far ? say on a scale of 1 to 10?
How's the keyboard, the 13.1" screen size, how's it handle intense applications, multi tasking, gaming?
Sounds like everything else; screen, battery life, weight etc is all great.
All of us that are waiting envy you![]()

The notebook is GREAT! the display is the best i have seen so far, better than Dells and HPs. i am referring to the brightness and contrast.
Keyboard looks and feels awesome.
Build Quality is again the best to date, its a Made in Japan unit. i guess that explains.
But Sony support sucks. No Driver or OS DVDs. No accessories at all, just comes with the adapter, no headphones, no neoprene case, etc. I got so many extras with my XPS.
So here is how i would rate it:
Display: 9/10
Build Quality: 10/10
Keypad: 9/10
If the XPS had the 16:9 format i would buy it any day over the Z, because support is a big thing to me and Dell is really good when it comes to support.
Support: 2/10 -
anyone else? i'd expect new Z Owners would be posting like crazy ... so they can use their new notebook

You'll have to look in the Vaio Z Owner's Lounge thread in the later pages for that information. It is a very large thread and will keep growing exponentially!

I give mine a 9 simply because it meets all my expectations (great build quality, great keyboard, great screen) with a point knocked off for the MSRP. However, I do think it's worth the price I paid
Multitasking meets my expectations (I'm a heavy multitasker), not sure about gaming since that's not why I got this. But yea... -

Well, I'm enjoying my new Z so much that I'm in trouble with the missus.
I have to say though, it was too slow to boot/hibernate before I ditched the default Vista-with-bloat install and used the XP downgrade disc. Maybe I didn't give Vista a chance? Dunno. I made the Vista recovery discs so I can always try it again in the future if there's a good reason to upgrade. For now, though, XP SP3 is nippy... -
I feels good to own a Vaio again after being a slave to the Thinkpad and Macbook Pros! This little machine is *incredible*. It will be tough for any other notebook on the market to match the build quality, screen, and keyboard on this (though some will hate the chiclet keys). I am simply stunned at the speed they can pack in this tiny laptop.
My only dissapointment is the fan noise... and its not bad compared to the competition. I can hear it, while dull and quiet, but it does a great job at keeping the heat dissapated as it belongs. The keyboard and underside are mildly warm at best when a heavy load. The other issue, as standard in this industry, is the bloatware. 86 running processes after the initial setup was completed is simply ridiculous... but a quick cleaning or reinstallation fixes that.
I wanted to go the 1600x900, but ultimately decided an external would be a better option, or two external displays as this laptop permitsAlso, regarding the keyboard, I almost wish the keys were a little bit bigger (in line with the current Apple keyboards, but the spacing is the same... so I am yet to mi**** a key, it just feels different (and with more tactile response than Apple's).

I'm totally happy with the Sony Z after three Dell 1330s gone bad...
Better quality, nicer screen 1600x900 is the best - you can scale it..great on the eyes, lighter, I like the keyboard, I like the docking station - BTW it has a cut out for the people with the extended battery.
I am using this with the HDMI 24" Samsung 2443BWX from Co..co.
Its the perfect notebook for me this year, I will get SSD next year to make it even better. I have the 320/5400 - slow..drive, tons of capacity.
I like the built in Sprint WAN - I was using the USB antenna - PIA.
I've also had two Sony's in the past with zero repairs... -
