I wish there was a way to post my picture to make this a little easier. I am trying to replace my laptop fan in a Sony Vaio VGN-S270. I removed all the necessary screws and plugs to get to the fan, but there are three screws connecting the fan which I'm not sure how to remove. Two of them are located on the lower left of the fan and are gold in color. They appear to be spring-loaded and have a threaded center to the screw. This seems to be an extension of the fan itself and covers one of the chips. The other screw is very small and is located up and to the left of the actual fan portion. This screw looks to have a circular head to it, but its so small I can't really tell what type of tool to use for it.

My jeweler kit has worked so far for all the case screws, but I'm clueless on what type of tool and/or how to remove these last few screws.

    Please help!

If anybody has experience with this but could use a picture to better understand the specific screws I'm talking about, I can shoot you an email with pic highlighting the screws in question. Every time I try to upload an image to my signature I get a "server timed out" error.

if I'm reading things correctly, the two spring loaded screws in question are the ones connected to the GPU. They are T-shaped, gold in color, have a spring under the flat T-shaped head, and stay connected to the fan replacement.

after finding some more info, it appears these screws are accessed from underneath the GPU, which means this is more of a task than I originally thought. If any body has insight on whether the GPU has to be removed in order to replace the fan, let me know. Thanks.

    Hi,
I replaced the CPU of my S5HP some time ago. The fan-case is connected with the GPU via a heatpipe. But you get the complete cooling-system, if you buy the spare-part.
Did you already concider the disasembly-guide?

You can upload pictures e.g. at http://www.7pics.info and post them here.
