as title states, the touchpad does not work. it stopped working from one minute to the next. right now it's not even displayed in the device manager as a device (which leads me to believe there is a loose connection, especially because i almost just got the touchpad changed).
i don't have any warranty anymore, and it's apparently extremely expensive to get this repaired, so i was wondering if there first off is a disassembly guide for the z21, and secondly if anyone else has had a similar problem that was somehow solved?
thanks in advance.

Did you accidentally hit the function key that disables it?

fn + f1

disabling the touch pad would not make it magically disappear from the device manager, would it?
and like i said, it stopped from one moment to the next, without touching anything but the touchpad itself -
i could seriously use some help here...

bump.......

wasn't there the Sony engineer who already did a video teardown of the Z2?

^I think he has an old VGN-Z

Thanks.

hey OP, did you manage to find a fix for your touchpad?
i have a brand new VAIO T (it's less than a week old), and suddenly the touchpad stopped working. the hotkey to disable/enable it is doing its job (that is showing the message "Touchpad disabled/Touchpad enabled" in the taskbar), but it doesn't do anything physically. in VAIO Control Center, in the Keyboard and Mouse section, the touchpad is set to enable as well, but it completely disappeared from Device Manager. a reboot didn't fix anything, so i took the battery out and pressed the power button for a minute to discharge the capacitors, then started the laptop, and nothing happened; the touchpad is gone.
anybody encountered this issue before on their laptops? any solutions? -
