I have read posts on this board stating that 2.5 GB RAM is possible. I assume that should be enough for your needs?

I don't know if this applies to all TX models, but I suggest you run a quick search for this topic. Good luck.

so 1.5 is not really limited to bios?

as long as yo get 1 stick of 2gb ram..you can break 2gb?

There was someone else who reported putting in a 2GB sodimm, and only getting a total of 2GB showing. YMMV.

I think I'll try. I already put 1GB in my 770p in place of 512MB and it was nice improvement. I wouldn't mind if it only show 2GB total.

actually that is the case with mine, too. the sony utilities show 2.5gb, but windows and the bios only report 2gb. well, 2gb is sufficient for xp. :)

Has anyone figured out which TX model or bios version that allows >2GB ram? I have a TX15 and limits me to 2GB.

Any help would be much appreciated. Also please let us know which TX model you have, where you downloaded the bios, and how you installed it (e.g., bootable CD via MS-DOS or windows self executable file .exe)

I am anxious to use that extra half gig of memory hiding in my system.

My Sony G11 has 2.5GB: 512MB on board and 2GB in the slot.

It can see both modules but only uses a maximum of 2GB (I don't know which 2GB) because that's the upper limit of the Intel 945GMS chipset. Anyway 2GB modules are cheap these days and you can have 2GB instead of 1.5GB. It's probably worth it if you have Vista.

I think the same applies to the TX since most of the hardware is the same as the G11.
