I don't think you'll have a problem with PhotoShop, as long as you have a fast hard drive (5400RPM, 8MB cache would be fine) and a gig of RAM. They matter more than the CPU.

Looks like you'll be able to run DreamWeaver just fine as well - it's system requirements are not high at all.

But this uses the 1.8" drive, so there is nothing over 4200 RPM. I've been on ULV CPUs for 3 years, but I think I'd want something like an older Fujitsu P where you can upgrade to a 7200 RPM drive or a larger Sony.

not sure about dreamweaver, but it runs PS fine. the fujitsu has no internal BT or firewire port. i love the TX.

The new Fujitsu does have Bluetooth and an SD card reader. I believe it's also fanless. They downgraded to the 1.8" drives liek the Sony uses though.

We're getting a little off topic, but the life in the enw one should be much better, it has a new power management tool. But I get 3-4 hours on main and another 2 or so with the slot loaded battery on the P7010.

No problem whatsoever with PS CS2 here (I have 1.5GB in my TX though).
Sure, my desktop machine is faster but I do no hesitate to work with the notebook.

3-4hrs on the main is unacceptable for such a small machine. thats the time i get for my s270 with a 13.3" screen. number 1 concern for most laptop users is battery life. my tx651 with 1.5gigs RAM consistently gets 6 hours +/-15 mins on standard battery. i love this machine.

Including price ;) Really, the P7010 performs better than the TX, will be interesting to see how the P7120 lines up, since it gives up the faster HDD options, but gains more battery life.

its faster at the expense of weight and battery. why get an ultraportable with weight and shoddy batt life. i dont think anyone with a vaio notebook had a big issue with price.

    herbiec,

do you mind telling me what color your tx651 is?...is it charcoal?...because i have seen some vendors selling it in the midnight blue?...i didn't know that color existed on the 651..there is no mention of it at sonystyle either let alone the laptop itself?..are these typos regarding the color?...

    thanks

I too was wondering about the color schemes available for the series. Colors seem to be Charcoal black for everything but 670 and up. 670 is available in platinum and charcoal. Below that is only charcoal.

I have a few quick questions about the 650 to be more precise the 651.

    1) Only difference b/w the 651 and 670 is the 1GB ram in the 670 and WAN Edge right?

    2) Has anyone tried to boot with a Live CD?

    3) Anyone have a case for their TX? Where'd you pick on up from? I mean the small cases, fits only the laptop.

    4) Just to confirm, the ram is the same as the 650 right?

    5) Anyone know where else I can pick up a TX651 at a decent price? So far I found it at:

    CDW.com / Newegg.com / J&R and some other site I can't remember. (ms**** or something like that)

    6) What is the extra partition which includes the Windows Recovery stuff used for? Is it really necessary? How would one rid their computer of it?

    7) Last but not least... Anyone have any pics of their TX651 or what not compared to like a book or a DVD case and such? Something like size comparison photos.

I've been mulling through the forums for info and came upon the conclusion that I'm pretty intent on getting a TX651 now. Just decided to register so that I can ask some questions and such for now. Thanks, and sorry for all the questions. hehe

tx651 only comes in charcoal black. you can see the carbon fiber pattern on it from certain angles. the tx651 is the only tx model right now WITHOUT that crappy cingulair WWAN. the sony website mistakenly states it supports only 1GB of RAM.

Just saw a TX book today. SWEET! I fell in love when I saw it! The charcoal black looks pretty sweet, although I wouldn't mind checking out the midnight blue. Hmm... I wonder if a Sony store around here would have the notebook.....
