thinking of getting one of these but the specs look identical.
is there any difference? are the drivers the same?

The TXN15P/B has a built in Sprint WWAN modem and external antenna whereas the TX850P has neither. The TXNs are also slighty thicker and heavier than other TXs because of the modem.

i am using txn i think we got fingerprint sensor and tx doesnt. not sure does tx as AV mode too...

All TXs have the AV mode and all TXs with the Core Solo processor have the fingerprint sensor, the ones with the Pentium M processors do not.

hey thanks a lot
don't need the wwan so the lighter 850 would suit me fine -
just noticed sony's website lists os migration drivers for the txn15 and not the tx850. are the drivers the same?

I got a TX850P/B a few months ago and LOVE it. I didn't want WAN, but I did want 802.11a, not just 802.11b/g. So the 850 was a perfect fit, and there was some great clearance prices out at the time. If there is still TX850P/B stock still around they are probably only cheaper now (don't tell me if that's the case, I don't want to know!!!)
To confirm, it does have AV mode, and it does have the fingerprint reader. Again, the only differences I know of are the 850 has 802.11a/b/g and no WAN, the N15 has WAN but only 802.11b/g. -
Hey Gums! I hope this isn't breaking forum protocol, but if your still looking for a TX850 consider EcomElectronics. It looks like they still have them in stock, not quite as cheap as I got mine, but still about as good a price as I see from a quick search (you might try pushing them down on price a bit). They are the typical NY dealer, they tried to sell me a bunch of accessories (I did end up buying a 3rd party extended warranty, god only know if it's worth anything). But they weren't super pushy, so just say no if your not interested. Actually quite polite people. The Vaio was in perfect condition in a factory sealed box. Your mileage may vary, but I'm happy with my purchase. And the usual disclaimer, I have no connection to them other than having made that one purchase.
If your looking for a nice, sleek, small laptop I don't think you can go far wrong with the TX850. It's not a cutting edge powerhouse, but it's handled just about anything I've thrown at it including big RAW images from a DSLR in Photoshop and Lightroom. It's peppy for it's size.
Good luck!
txn15p/b vs tx850pb
