    hi i have a vaio pcg-k35

It says on sony's website that possibilites for upgrade are:

    512mb: slot1: 256mb + slot2: 256mb
    or 512mb: slot 1 512mb + slot2: empty
    or 1GB: slot1 512 + slot 2: 512

    my question is what about 768mb: slot 1: 512 and slot2: 256mb.
    does it work???

and what about generic memory : its large cheaper. do u trust them??
$50 instead of $300 for the brand KAHLON...

It uses PC2100 memory. The maximum amount of memory is 1GB, There's no reason it shouldn't run with two differnet sizes of memory. I have a 512MB and 1GB sticks in my T42 right now. Buying it from Sony will always cost more. Using an off brand of memory will probably slightly increase the chances that it won't work. You could buy a name brand on the internet like Curcial, Corsair or Kingston much cheaper on the interent if that makes you feel better. Good Luck.
