I have an FZ190 and love everything about it except one thing. The 1280x800 resolution is too low for a 15.4 inch screen, for my needs at least.

Is it possible to purchase another 15.4 inch lcd that does a higher resolution and replace my current lcd panel with it?

I've searched around for replacing laptop screens and it doesn't seem very difficult but every description of the process involved replacing a broken lcd with the exact same model.

I've looked at screentekinc.com and apparently, the only Sony manufactured 15.4 inch screens are 1280x800. So i would have to go with another manufacturer.

Question is, would this work? I had heard that Sharp manufactures the LCDs for Sony vaio's but that may be only for some models. If so, would a generic Sharp LCD work for this purpose?

BTW, I don't want to hook up to an external monitor since I mainly use the laptop on the sofa.
