    Hi all,
i have a VGN-Z and which upgraded from Vista to Win 7 using disk from Sony.
Few weeks ago, I changed harddisk, after I recover system disk from Ghost. I notice that I can not turn on windows update, even I recover from my first Win7 ghost.
I never use windows update before, so I am not sure it is caused by ghost or it is caused by win7 upgrade.
Does any one using Vista to Win7 machine now? do you have such problem?

i think it's caused by ghost. happened to me a few time when i upgraded hdd, and used an image made with acronis. not sure exactly why it happened but some other people seem not to have this problem. for my case, when i tried the image on the original hdd there was no problem, but with the new hdd windows update was not working, even if i tried all the fix and installed sp1 from the offline installer

yes, i tried all solutions found and it is not working. I have win7 upgrade kits from Sony but not disk for application from sony and adobe, not sure how to install.
but my company's IT guy is using ghost to install for every body, never heard issue reported from them.

do you believe or not, it is caused by new hard disk, a 750G advanced format HD.
After tried 100 methods from internet, and none of them is working. finally found a hints from HP, download latest Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology 10.00, uninstall the old one and install the new one, it works, windows update and windows defender works as normal now.
