    has any body upgraded memory on a sony NB with other memory modules rather than sony's? what happens in that case with the warranty?
    i mean: sony memory modules are so expencive you would believe->300€ for 512MB Ram!!!???

    I think(somebody correct me if this is not true) Sony's memory modules are proprietary and they cannot be replaced with normal SODIMMs.

    You can use any memory module that is compatible (right type). It won't void your warranty, unless you screw up the installation and break something.

    Upgraded the RAM in my S460 with 2 x 1GB DDR2 533MHz modules from Crucial. Workin great. Took less than ten minutes and cost under $300. Just be careful replacing the RAM under the keyboard.

    well i'm not thinking replacing the memory myself :)
    so i guess than it is ok to replace the memory at some computer shop.
    thx guys for the answers, cause i was really shocked that u had to pay more than 300€ for 512mb of memory which is absolutely too much!!!
