i'd like to know if i want to upgrade the memory, which ones should i buy?
there are 2 sticks of 512mb pc2- 4200S - 444 - 12 in the laptop and i'd like just to replace one of the sticks to a 1Gb making it 1.5Gb total.
can i just buy any 1Gb stick or there must be specific specifications to match the other 512mb stick? and what's the max speed the vaio fe770 can take?
    thanks

The specifications must match. Be sure to buy RAM from reputable manufacturers such as Kingston, Crucial, Corsair or OCZ.

    ok thanks...

    so the 1GB one i should buy a DDR2 PC2-4200S and 444mhz?

btw, what does the "S" stand for after 4200? does it matter if it doesn't have the S?

and what's the max spec this laptop can take?

Try using crucial's memory selector tool to find what kind of RAM you need...then check www.newegg.com for a cheaper price.
