    Hi there!

I want to buy a Sony VPC-Z model and I'm not sure which option of those two is best for me:

    VPC-Z13V5E
    320GB HDD
    NO optical drive
    1500€

    or

    VPC-Z13X5E
    128GB SSD (2x64GB Dual SSD, Raid 0)
    optical drive
    1800€

The thing is, I want a SSD. So I figured if it's possible to just remove the 320GB HDD and insert 2x64GB SSDs and build a Raid 0 on my own (because that way it should be cheaper than just taking the SSD-model)? Is there enough space and enough slots available?
Besides that, the Vaio Z FAQ says that I'm not able to put in any other SSD but the original ones from SONY itself, is that true?

The SSDs of the Z dont fit in the same physical space as the HDD... that being said, if you get the HDD Z, you can leave the HDD there and certain 1.8" drives can be opened and if you buy the correct connectors, you can install them into the spot where the SSDs usually sit... i'm not sure if you'll have enough connectors or not, but there's a thread on replacing the Sony stock SSD's with non-Sony SSD's here:
