    Howdy :)

i have just bought a microsoft optical wireless mouse 4000 to use with the laptop (and very nice it is too :)) and anyway, the intellipoint software has overridden my touchpad interface, but i need control over both independantly (for example, i need the mouse to be about a third of the way up the speed scale, but the touchpad needs to be about 2 thirds...)

also, i no longer have control over the intricities of the touchpad such as whether the side bits can act as scrollbars etc...

    anyone know of a solution?

Dont have an answer but I have a related question that might lead to an answer. I have noticed that sony touch pad drivers dont let you adjust alot of the higher end features. On previous laptops I was able to go directly to they manufacturer(usually synaptics) and download better drivers.

So I guess the question is does anybody know who makes the sony touch pads and are there better drivers out there then what comes from Sony...or aftermarket drivers if sony is the manufacturer???

Note: Another problem that this fixed was the continual settings reset game. (The new drivers had multiple hardware profiles including exteral mice)

    Good luck VaioMonkey

I remember that problem from my laptop. The Intelli software overrides the settings of the touchpad.

Think I solved it by re-installing the touchpad drivers in the hardware manager.

It's definitely possible to use both at the same time, so keep trying.

This is why I advocate buying Logitech input peripherals. First off, they are better quality, and second, the setpoint software explicitly tells you that it has detected a touchpad and is making sure to not override it in the installation. Lesson learned.

Do you have a problem with the bluetooth connect utility? After opening my mouse connection I am prompted to press the connect button on my mouse. If I click OK , it works fine. If I press Enter instead of clicking OK, I get the blue screen of death. Happens everytime.

    I install VX flawlessly.

During the installation, the setpoint software detected a touchpad and changed something so they work together.

    I know this doesn't help!

i think maybe you misunderstand... i can use both the mouse and touchpad both at the same time, but i dont have inividual control over the characteristics such as speed, button definition etc...

they both work, i just cant control how they work independantly ;)
