    Hello,
My 2 month FE used to be so silent I thought it came without a fan. As of today (I just got to Germany for business) the laptop isnt quiet anymore. Even when its idle it makes a noise that sounds to me like the fan working on low. Its non stop and annoying. Sony support didnt help much, they recommended re-setting my Bios and checking my power managment settings. Sony doesn't have a hardware diagnostic for the fan. Any suggestions? Is there any utility I can download that controls the fan. I am thinking that if I can set the fan to "OFF" then I can determine if the sound is actually the fan or something else. For those of you that have an FE: When it's on and idle, is your laptop completely silent?
Thanks in advance for comments or advice!

Update: I dont think its the fan because I heard the fan go off and it seems to be on the right hand side of the laptop. This noise seems to be coming from the left palm rest. I dont think its supposed to be there, it starts the moment i boot the laptop. I *think* my laptop used to be completely silent when on, I would have noticed it before. Can anybody with an FE tell me if their laptop makes any noise at all when ON? Thanks...
