I was looking to buy a new laptop, and was deciding between vaio SA (13.3") and SE (15.5") models. But I have seen some really bad reviews about the THIN lcd screen used in this series. Let me quote those reviews here.

    - Review of VAIO SE ( found here)
    - Review of VAIO SA ( found here)
It seems that all of the VAIO S series suffers from this design flaw. Anyone who owns an S series notebook can confirm this issue?

I'd buy a nice sleeve for the laptop and treat it nicely. Vaios for sure aren't rugged, but they're lightweight and powerful. For what it's worth, "bruising" happens to everyone... even my roommate's x220 with literally a metal casing around its screen (no idea how he got it... he's lost for words too).

TBH, I haven't heard of this problem...

I travel with my SA nearly daily (since September) and (touch wood) nothings happened to it. I have a laptop bag but no case for the laptop and i'm careful, but not overly-careful with it.

Thanks for your reply. It might be that a particular batch has this issue.

I have SE and I don't even a piece of cloth between display and keyboard (as I do with my Z1) to carry it around. It's 4 month old. I carry it in a backpack and treat as I did other 15" laptops before it. Screen is clean, no marks. In fact laptop looks completely new. There is one issue: screen bezel is creaking as if it's slightly lose.

P.S. I stopped worrying about "orange" screen as I use external display for color sensitive work.
