Hello everyone. Please post your thoughts as I am running out of any feasible ones at the moment![]()
Right, so I bought this notebook exactly one year and a month ago. Back then, everything rocked, however, six months later, when I was moving it around IE: from table to my lap and didnt keep it extremly slow, it would close instantly, as if I was moving the battery, the only thing is that it was often plugged in as well, hence I realized it was not due to battery moving around.
Right after this problem had occured, it kept intensifying, it would happen more and more often and to smaller and smaller movements. One day I removed battery, unplugged it and started moving it around my ear to see if I could hear any sounds, and bingo! There is was. A sound ^_^.
By that time it was clear to me that something had happened, I just didnt know what. So I tried opening it. I unscrewed all the back screws, 10 in total, but still couldnt remove the top, fickle architecture. So it was impossible for me to reach the motherboard to check out what was making that weird sound. After screwing it back, I pushed the cd button and took the cd frame out. Then I started moving it again and the sound was gone. I suspected that sound was made due to the light aluminium frame that the cdrom had and that was not very still, so I thought that I had worried for nothing and that probably the notebook was just closing due to hdd problems or something.
SO I tried keeping it as still as I could, to avoid this problem. Everything was great, great until yesterday, when I slap-closed its lid by mistake and it closed again. Now, I wasnt very nervous, I knew the procedure. Just remove the AC, remove battery, put it back and it would start normally again, until the next "shock"Thing is, and bare this is mind as it is a key information, every time after it was closing, if I pushed the turn on button it would do nothing, as if it had no battery left. That until I took the battery out and put it back. Then he probably knew that its safe to start again after the shock. The only problem is, that last night it didnt start back. At all. I did all possible combinations I could every think of. DEAD. No movement. Just imagine your laptop unplugged and with battery taken out, and you trying to turn it on. Same reaction. Nothing would move, only that it had the battery in and AC plugged at the same time.
So then I started moving it around again and could hear that sound again. I imagined it was either that, or a contact had disconnected. And since my warranty had expired 1 month ago (WTF how can sony offer only 1 year warranty for notebooks :| so lame. or clever? for them maybe.SO I decided to open it up, yet again, and this time to succeed. I checked the web on how to open up a sony vaio, found some helpful information and went for it. After I`d done it, I could see the fan, ram, cpu, hdd and ofcourse motherboard and all the rest. Nothing seemed out of place, but check this out, I moved it a bit and there it was! A SCREW! A F*****G SCREW. That was just moving up and down the motherboard circuits. I was thinking: WTF? How did he get there? It was a silver unusually big screw from what I was seeing around the MB. Then I saw it. The hdd has a support that holds it in 4 screws. Silver ones. Only three were there, one was out, and wondering off on the MB. I couldnt ****ing beliete it. How is it possible? A screw from a sony vaio laptop had fallen off just like that? How is that possible? And in which dimension?
I was sure no one would believe me even if i`d told them, so I didnt bother. I screwed it back onto the HDD, cleared the dust, put the battery back on, and still wouldnt work. Now, my question is..this last time when it had closed by itself, I was with a friend, and when the friend saw it close just like that, he tried to turn it back on without previously removing the battery. I was sure it wouldnt work from my previous experiments, so I didnt bother telling him. But it did work. Just as it booted up and requested the password, I was like..ah cool its back on, leave it now. And we left it on. When we came back, it was off, and no one had touched it.
And then it wouldnt start at all. Its all weird, I feel like Murphy's law is surrounding me at the moment. I dont know what to think. Is it possible to reset it somehow? It does make sense why he kept closing when the screw was moving around the motherboard, contacts were connecting between them and he has some sort of protection to cut electrical sources in case of s/c. Thats why I had to remove the battery and then put it back before it would start. Or maybe when I was removing the battery I would also cause the screw to move to a better place? Who knows. Thing is now it wouldnt start at all and want to hear what you people think.
NEED PROFFESSIONAL ADVICE![]()
Thanks in advance!
