    Hi all,

Just got my SZ110 last week, and it works a charm (after removing bloatware even better). Just one thing annoys the hell out of me - everytime i start up, i hear a few of the USB device mount/unmount sounds... it's like someone plugged in a USB device, removed it and plugged it in again everytime i start the machine...

I dont think it used to happen the first few day, but has started to happen lately... not sure what it can be - i don't have any devices plugged in - but i suspect it might be the camera???

    Any tips would be helpful!

Yes its more the Memory Card Adapter (goes on the right of the notebook) then the camera.

Well, the memory card adapter is empty... no cards in any of the 2 adapters...

Every time your SZ boots up, it loads the VAIO power management utility. Each profile has different things it activates, such as bluetooth antenna, webcam, optical drive, etc. The 'USB noise' is from that utility, as it cycles through the things you want to activate. The webcam, for example, is a USB device, and when windows turns it on, you get that noise.

the only way to shut the whole startup noises down is the "f2" thing? seems like it is not for novices. is it safe?

Like anything, it's safe if you be careful. Whenever I enter my system BIOS, I don't touch type - I peck, because I want to make sure of what key I'm pressing. Pay attention to what you're changing before you 'exit and accept changes' and you should be all right.

Hey I noticed Sony is getting cheap with the bios too. On the s360 you culd adjust brightness(I think) and this one you can't.

Oh the sound you hear is from the exspansion card you have on the right side. When I remove the mc reader it doesnt usb beep anymore.
