I am looking to find where I can purchase this piece for the power adapter for the TZ.

I don't think Sony sells it separately. If you live in the USA you could try Sony Parts.
-
Is there a part number or name I would ask for?
-
That is certainly interesting. Never seen that before. Probably at least $25 if it is from Sony, however
-
Come to think of it, that might not be by Sony, in that their plug is not proprietary, and Sony would have their name plastered all over it somewhere.
-
I believe it is a sony product because I found those pictures on a japanese webpage with unboxing pictures.
-
That's a pretty slick little adaptor! I'd take a couple!
-
Same adapter that comes with the G as well, and the TZ in Japan. Not sure about the US. I like it. It wouldn't work with the SZ or any other series, but it's a nice little adapter. -
I would like it as well, as long as the cord is longer.
-
This adapter I think is for the japan TZ version TZ92S I think. U will need to buy the whole AC adapter

Here is the another picture

The adapter - at least in the box with both Gs I have received - comes with both the tip and the cord.
-
in the TZ90s box from dynamism, this adapter comes without the tip, only a cord. The ac adapter is, however, MUCH smaller than the one bundled with the uS TZ, as I found out this weekend trying to buy a new one. It's also smaller thant the little long one that they sell here (which has a very short plug to the laptop).

The Japanese TZ power brick is smaller than the US? How much smaller can it be? Can we see some pics?

I might be wrong, but the power cable socket on the PSU uses the standard 2-pin connector so you can use a standard cable with a 2-pin plug. I normally prefer a longer cable but I have one that I shortened to about 6" long and it gives much the same result at less cost.

Good point, I haven't thought about that.

My english is not the best but I thing, you search this one?

Won't look as nice but it work as the same. I try it using my macbookpro adapter. -

Just heads up: if you want to buy that stick AC adapter mentioned in the post above 9ebay link), get it for $20 from Sonystyle.com in the refurbished section.
Not a bad deal at all! -
the one I'm talking about is this one: VGP-AC16V11, which can have an addon little plug so it fits directly in a wall adapter, but the on I have requires a classic 8-plug to the wall. The adapter itself (not including the cables) weighs 4 ounces (115g). Here are some pics, on the TZ keyboard for scale. I think it is smaller than the US one. Let me know.

I just realized that if the OP has that very adapter and bought in the US, then my assumption was wrong: the US adapter and the Japanese one are the same. I went to a sonystyle store the other day, and asked to buy the adapter that comes bundled with the TZ: they sold me the stick adapter first (16V10). I then came back saying that was not it, and they sold me the 16V13, saying that was it. I tried to argue but then gave up, making me think the 16V13 was indeed the one bundled with the TZ. Can you confirm that the 16V11 is in fact the one you got with your US TZ? if so, why is that adapter not available from sony in the US? I can't even find the 16V11 reference... In any case I agree 20$ for the 16V10 is pretty good, if they're in stock.

Thanks for the pictures jmuffat. I just compared my tz power adapter (US model) and found that it is actually larger than the japanese model after comparing it to your pictures. The power brick is longer that the spacebar and there is no groove for the wall tip to plug into. Can you give me the input and output ratings for the japanese model, just for comparison? This is what the US model says:
INPUT: 100V-240V~ 1.4A(1.4A)-0.8A(0,8A) 50/60Hz
OUTPUT: 16V(16V)== 1.0A(4,0A) -
Hi Xprohx,
this adapter has the following characteristics:
INPUT: 100V-240V~ 1.1A-0.6A 50/60Hz
OUTPUT: 16V(16V)== 2.8A
and yes, there is "groove" with notches to clip the wall adapter to it, probably adding an inch in length. I still don't understand why they don't bundle that wall adapter with since it's clearly designed for it specifically, and one can only assume that it come with the unit if you buy the 16v11 separately (for a hefty price, as pointed out by others). I, for one, would like to purchase that little add-on.
I assume the pictures you posted originally were not from you, right?

I think this power adapter is also used on the vaio UX ultra mobile pc's. Conics.net sells the power adapter with the wall plug for $160 shipped. For that price, I think I will just stick with what I have.
