Hi, i want to ask what cpu support my vaio because my previews failled.
I already ask sony community forum and sony europe and they dont know or they dont give real answer...I already removed the cpu and i dont know what cpu can put insyde.....I was thinking the Core i7 640m or the
core i5 580m which is the same watts and socket with the mainboard. I ve checked in the intel site for my HM55 Chipset and says that support the i7 640m and i5 580m..but i dont know if my motherboard support.

    My laptop spec:
    Intel Core i5 430M
    ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
    15.5 inch, 16:9, 1920x1080 pixels
    4gb ddr3 1066
    500gb hdd
    Socket: PGA988
    watts: 35

    Thank you!!!

I'm not sure what to tell you, but I have looked into cpu upgrades for my SR. I would think as long as the socket is the same and the power consumption is not higher than highest drawing cpu that laptop ships with, and the chipset supports the cpu - you *should* be fine. dual core to quad core should be ok, but from other threads, people who have tried to run some hex core in their vaio never got them working.
