Hi All,
I just purchased Z590 last Friday. Since then, I am having the following problem. When I update some programs, my audio driver gets uninstalled. I get the white x on the red circle on the top of a speaker sign. It happened three times. (I am using Vista Ultimate)
Very first time; After doing optional updates-additional language pack, audio was gone. I just re-installed everything and I did not install language pack.
Second time; I updated Adobe CS3 after installing an original program I purchased. A same issue. My audio driver disappeared with a sign saying "No Audio device is installed." So, I downloaded audio driver from the Sony website and tried to install it. However, I could not finish it. I never got "Finish"Button. I contacted A tech support and the first guy suggested to install a audio driver in Safe Mode. No luck there. The second guy suggested to install audio driver through Vaio Recovery Center from the program. No Luck. However, I got "Finish" Button this case. interestingly, I am getting "This driver only works in Microsoft Vista" message when I try to install a downloaded audio drive. I was turning a computer on and off, and somehow audio driver came back. Tonight I updated windows again. It just did when I turned it off. Then, audio driver is gone again. I don't want to reinstall everything whenever I update anything.
Anyone having a similar problem here?
Any suggestion will be appreciated.
Other than this issue, I am loving this computer.
Thanks, all.
p.s. I tried to restoring the system to be previous time point and it did not solve the issue.

(Tonight I updated windows again) when you say update how did you update what the original vista version of your computer.
-
That maybe relatived to hardware problem.
-
Mine is vista Ultimate.
I got small logo on the right corner saying that "Update is ready." So I clicked and went on.
It seems like my issue is not just related to a program update. It is really random. I turned off the computer to leave from my work and restarted it after arriving at home. Audio driver was gone. I read at least one same report on the net.
I agree with Lamtutu at this point. I restored Drive C today to change everything back to an orginal condition. Audio driver did not get installed. So, I called Sony tech support and spent out 2 hours with several different levels of support tech. They could not figure it out. Interestingly, when one tech had a remote access to my vaio, audio driver disappeared. Anyway, they needed to have a computer back to the facility to repair it. I was told that it will take 7-10 bussiness days. I was little upset because I knew that it will take longer because of Thanksgivings and all. So, I called a customer support at where I bought the computer and she arranged to ship a new one in 2 minutes after talking to her. Anyway this is my whole story. Almost no reply means that this is not a common issue and it is good to know. -
I have the same issue. Audio driver vanished, can't seem to get it back. The only audio device showing in device manager is the bluetooth audio. Anyone make any progress? Did the new Z590 they shipped you fix the problem?
Sony support was no help. They say to re-format and re-install everything and that seems like overkill. -
I have had the same issues - not sure what it is, but reinstalling the audio drivers fixes it each time - oh well....

How did you re-install the drivers? Did you use the sony recovery utility? Which drivers did you re-install?
TIA for your help.
