I have a router in my house and from my room the fw reads 4 bars and if it connects from my room it wont let me get online i just get this page is unavailable. Sometimes it will just say unable to connect some times it says it connected but acts like i didn't. If i go into the hall and stand over the router i can connect every time and it works online. Their wierd thing is if i go stand over it to connect i can go any ware in my house and still be online and surf the web. But i have to connect directly over the router or it dosent work.

Your router is now self-aware and longs for physical contact.

Are you using Vista or XP??
Have you upgraded the firmware on your router?

I know our router had problems with a Vista laptop while XP worked fine.
(Currently all seems well, also with SP1)

If you upgraded your firmware try going back, or if you haven't try upgrading. Also try disconnecting your router from the power supply and leave it a little while. All your settings should remain.

On your laptop, you can try downgrading your driver if you upgraded or upgrade your driver if you haven't.

If the problem still persists, try to give more details so people will get a clearer idea of the problem.

Vista definitely gives some problems with internet on any company's line of laptops. It's the whole Service Pack One. I know when I finally got Service Pack One on my lappy it all worked well. It just takes that step. Which is kind of a downfall for Vista...at least I think so.
