Hey guys, was about to buy the fzvgn18 when i realized it only has a 4200rpm hard drive. Anyone know if this will be an issue for video editing? what brand is the hard drive?

A faster HDD will definately help out video editing as files - esp. the larger ones typically found in videos - will load a lot faster. However, 4200 RPM HDD have become better speed-wise, but there still will be a noticeable difference when comparing to a 5400 RPM drive.

A company like Sony, who doesn't make their own laptops, usually contracts more than one HDD manufacturer.

You can edit any footage you want, the more HDD space it takes up, the longer it will take to load, and the more significant difference between HDD speeds.

Some 4200 RPM disk outperform 5400RPM disks.

Some 5400RPM diks outperform 7200RPM disks.

One of the fastest notebook harddrives at the moment is Samsung M5 250GB 5400 RPM. It's also very energy conservative and quiet.
