I'm a UK-based linguist who for some years now has standardized on US keyboard layouts - to simplify multilingual work. I'm just about to purchase (here in the UK) a Sony VAIO S1XP notebook (my very first PC!), but have got nowhere with Sony UK as regards obtaining a US, or any other non-UK, (integral) keyboard. After contacting a US keyboard supplier I was asked to furnish the product code for the US keyboard of the Sony S-series. If anyone has purchased, or plans to purchase, a model in this very new range they would be doing me a big favour by taking a peek at the underside of their keyboard and letting me know what its product code is.

It would also be helpful to know what foreign-language keyboard options exist for this model. Again, Sony UK were a complete washout on this score.

I'm a long-time Mac user and this has been a very educational introduction for me to the world of allegedly unlimited choice.

    Cheers!

Probably you know about this, but you can change the settings to make any keyboard work like an US keyboard. Just go to the control panel / Regional and Language Options / Languages / Details / Add / choose English (US). Then you can switch between British and US English by clicking on the EN logo close to taskbar.
