    hello, i hope some one can help me . a friend has asked me to look at a vaio that he has picked up, thrown out. it has no battery or power supply but other than that looks in good condition. before i go and buy a power supply, will it work on mains without the battery in. seems to good to junk it. geof.

    It should; one way to try before you drop $$ for a _Sony specific power supply (assuming you don't have another one handy) is to get a universal power supply (Targus and Kensington both make them) and take it for a spin. If it works, and you don't want to keep the universal power supply - although I can't imagine why not - then just return the universal power supply and pick up a power supply that's specific to the vaio model in question.

    thanks. does any one know what the specs are for this power supply, and where to get one from. looked on ebay at the universals but they dont seem tho list this one ( pcg 391m vgn-fz21m ) geof.
