I think it is just too new to have spawned English language reviews and, until it is announced as a product coming to the U.S. (or even Europe) there may be relatively little western interest in what is essentially a refresh of a former Sony product. (Besides, isn't it fun reading the goofy translations?!) The upshot on the Pro 13 mk2 is that it is a little thicker and heavier (still under 2.5 lbs) but apparently far, far sturdier and able to pass drop, bend and twist torture tests leaving previous model in the dust. This is clearly a model converted from a consumer product to a business product with not only the added stability but the addition of both Ethernet and VGA ports. In most performance respects there is little change, pretty much the standard comparison of Haswell vs. Broadwell Core i7 "U" cpu/gpus with the latter showing about a 15% improvement and the former (cpu only) showing no discernabe difference. No mention of Vaio's intent to export this model to the US (I think it should be a no brainer, depending on price. If they can afford to price it comparably to predecessor model for equivalent configuration I think they would have a sure hit on their hands. The biggest disappointment in the mk2 is the carryover limitation of 8GB RAM, taking it out of contention with business models from Lenovo, HP and Dell. Still, it's likely that less than 20% (my guess, taken from you-know-where!) of the would-be buyers will actually need more than 8GB, if nothing else it's a selling point that the 16GB are available, and - in another analytically meaningless figure (note the root word of "anal-ytical!"), I think closer to 50% would buy the 16GB configuration, if only for prestige and futureproofing.

I have to admit to eating a good helping of crow, because I was highly skeptical as to what the Vaio company was likely to accomplish, given its relatively low capitalization, but clearly they have hired or retained from Sony some of the best hardware engineers available and some formidable design talent as well. The only thing I might have done differently would have been to bring the clamshell Z here first, but then again, with the increasing popularity of the Surface line and the growing number of copycats, perhaps they made the better decision here too bringing the Z Canvas first. From the many reviews I've read (again, Google Translate is all you need since most are in Japanese), the Z Canvas got essentially everything right and will revive the Vaio Z "halo" effect to the U.S. market and that will enable Vaio to bring out lesser models, like the refreshed Pro 13 mk2, though it is surely no slouch in its own right, but they will probably be able to also revive the premium pricing they achieved with Sony Z's despite how far prices have fallen in the U.S. Market.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, HDTV4ME!

Like Jeff said they have significantly improved strudiness/durability over previous Pro 13. In terms of power/performance nothing much has changed. What I really like, those reviews praise good audio quality something I take with pinch of salt as all my previous vaio Z''s (and especially my current Z22+PMD) were quite poor soundwise. If they have improved this, I would really like to see an international version.

    Cheers,
    Miki
