I was wondering if those who complained of how hot their S series gets all have a dedicated graphics card, or if this is also a problem with internal VRAM. Also, is the heat a problem on battery power, or only on AC?

Well, I think it is a combination of factors.
For instance, it is the S460 which gets really hot, and apparently the S360 did not.
However, both have dedicated graphics and I believe both have 4200rpm harddrives. However, the S460 does have a *different* videocard and perhaps most importantly, it has the newer, hotter Sonoma chipset. -
reasons for heat in 460 vs 360
- 460 has new HD (5400rpm) vs 360 4800rpm hd (Major source of heat)
- 460 is a sonoma while 360 is a donathon. Sonoma required 30% more power, more power = more heat.
- 460 runs at 19v (chipset changes) while 360 runs 16v. Again more power = more heat.
I dont think the video card has much to do with the heat issue.
vaio s series due to graphics card?
