Flashing LED's are Boot Error Codes, but I'll be dam_ned if I could find what they mean for your system or any other Vaio for that matter. As bad as HP support has become, it's still a lot better than Sony, ASUS, and many others. This kind of info could be found inside 5 minutes.

This is the Problem Procedure for your system: http://tinyurl.com/bajsf9

Note that it says to note the LED status for a tech if you need to send it in. In other words they're not going to tell you online. Scratch Vaio's off my list of systems to recommend.

If you can't find the LED Error Code online by searching, call Sony and ask them what it means. It's probably the fastest way to find out.

Usually when you can't start up though, it's one of several things:

    1. Bad Adapter or Connection at Notebook
    2. Bad Battery
    3. Memory Module loose (real common after you install a new RAM chip)
    4. BIOS Error

The LED's tell you specifically what the problem is related to, but you should at least check the other things I've listed, except the BIOS of course. If you've just updated something that can also be the cause - some BIOS updates will freeze systems.

Open your RAM module area and pull/reseat them to be sure they're in tight. If you're mobile a lot with your system it's easy for them to vibrate loose enough to cause an error.
